Chest Pain
Chiropractic management of chronic chest
pain using mechanical force, manually assisted short-lever
adjusting procedures. Polkinghorn BS, Colloca CJ. Journal
of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics. February
2003; Vol. 26, No. 2, pp. 108-115.
This is the case of a 49-year-old man with chronic chest
pain, dyspnea, and anxiety for over 4 months. The pain became
so severe that he couldn’t work. Prior efforts to treat
the condition had met with failure.
Chiropractic adjustments were made to the thoracic spine
and, in particular, the costosternal joints. The patient
obtained prompt relief from his symptoms. Sustained chiropractic
care over a 14-week period resulted in complete resolution
of the patient's previously chronic condition, with recovery
maintained at 9-month follow-up.
