My name is Sherri Garcia and
I am the mother of three wonderful boys who have all had various health
problems throughout their lives. Christopher and Kieran are two of my
boys, and their stories are very much alike. Christopher had pneumonia
when he was two and from then on we battled with asthma. Christopher
went through many rounds of oral steroids and breathing treatments. After
a few years he seemed to outgrow it. But in 1997, we noticed him having
trouble getting through his karate classes. We had him tested, and found
out he had exercise-induced asthma.
Our doctor prescribed an inhaler
that Christopher had to use before any physical activity. He told us
that Christopher would never outgrow this type of asthma. The inhalers
would be something he would use for the rest of his life. Then we met
Dr. Chris and Dr. Beth Ehlich. Christopher was found to have a subluxation
that affected the nerves leading right to his lungs. Dr. Chris began
Christopher's chiropractic adjustments and just a few months later Christopher
went through his two-hour black-belt test with no inhaler.
We haven't
bought an inhaler in five years! Kieran began to have problems at a very
early age. His first ear infection was at six weeks of age. He was diagnosed
with asthma at three months, had tubes put in his ears at five months,
and was on daily breathing treatments to control his asthma. At least
once a month he would go through a round of oral steroids for serious
breathing problems.
When he was one year old Kieran developed RSV, a
serious childhood respiratory virus, and he had so much trouble
breathing we could see his ribs. We rushed him to a specialist, who told
us Kieran was getting air so there was not really anything he could do
for him, but to bring him to the hospital before he turned blue! (Those
really were his instructions!) Thank goodness we found Dr. Chris and
Dr. Beth. Kieran had subluxations that were affecting his sinuses, his
ears, and his lungs. Kieran too has been drug-free for five years and
is healthier than we ever dared to hope. Chiropractic has been a life
changing experience for my family. Even the boys understand what it has
done for them and they actually tell their friends to go to the chiropractor!
