Drs. Steven and Camilla Franson
Beverly, Massachusetts
February 10, 2003 I walked into Franson Family Chiropractic and
my life was changed forever. I moved out to Boston from Colorado
to accept a job with a software company after college. After about
2 months of working at the company I began taking my sick days,
a lot of them. I would wake up to the right side of my body feeling
tingly, with pins and needles, almost like it had fallen asleep.
I would get in the shower and could barely stand some mornings
the dizziness was so overwhelming, I felt like I had just drunk
a bottle of Jack Daniels. I would walk (most days I had these
symptoms I could barely walk down the street let alone drive a
car) to the doctor in Boston and sit there all day until a doctor
could see me.
Every time I went to the doctor I described my symptoms,
usually through tears because I was so terrfied and aggravated
by this mysterious feeling I could not stop. The symptoms would
last three days and then vanish until 15 days later when I
would revisit my new second home the doctor's office. After
two months I was told that I probably had Multiple Sclerosis
and I should get an MRI done so that they could check out my
brain on an MRI. I obliged the doctors, went to a neurologist
that went over my MRI and confirmed that there were no signs of
anything just as he had suspected, he then told me that I did
have early signs of MS but on the other hand it could be Meniere's
Disease.
I was off to another specialist, an eye and ear specialist
this time, to see if I had Meniere's Disease. It seemed that every
person I met in the waiting room of this specialist had similar symptoms
as me with the one difference that I was not losing my hearing. After
days of balance testing, hearing tests and brain testing with no signs
of anything the doctor suggested that I undergo surgery to
punch a hole in my eardrum. This hole would release pressure from
my inner ear which was causing the vertigo. I decided to wait on this "minor" surgery,
as he had called it, because punching a hole in my eardrum seemed
anything but "minor" to me.
I went back to see another neurologist
who told me not to listen to the first neurologist I had seen. This
was not MS he said or Meniere's disease in his opinion. I was so relieved
but as frustrated as ever. This neurologist told me to take 4 or 5
ibuprofen the next dizzy spell I had.
Confused yet? Imagine how I felt!
I walked into Franson Family Chiropractic
having convinced myself that I was going to soon die of MS, popping
about 1,000 mgs of Advil every morning, terrified I would loose my
job if I took one more sick day, barely able to drive due to the dizziness
and almost causing accidents every evening on Route 128 while I was
driving home to Boston. I was scared to death that I would never find
out what was wrong with me and I missed my Mom in Texas desperately.
Well, I
soon found out that what was wrong with me and it was that I never
challenged these doctors. I had accepted their word as truth. I am
now under the care of Dr. Camilla Franson and after her first adjustment
about six months ago I have not had one tingle in my right side or
any dizziness. Through Dr. Camilla's education I finally figured out
what was causing these symptoms, an evil drug Paxil that I was placed
on for one anxiety attack during the time I graduated from college.
Funny, how an anti-anxiety SSRI by the name of Paxil would cause the
most anxiety for me and my family that we had ever faced.
I am now almost Paxil free, I have been slowly weaning
my body off of this horrible drug for about two months now
like a heroine addict. Now that I have been under Dr. Camilla's
care I am the healthiest and strongest I ever thought possible.
I have thrown away my Ortho-Novum and I am on the road to
being 100% drug free.
I urge
you to get checked by a chiropractor. I beg you to challenge your
M.D. or anyone who suggests a pill as a solution to any problem. If
you need proof that chiropractic works ask around the waiting room
of Franson Family Chiropractic and you will meet wonderful people
with stories more amazing than mine.
My story ends
at the beginning really, I am on my way to Parker College of Chiropractic
to fulfill my calling and my destiny and become a Doctor of Chiropractic
so that one day I might help someone who was as terrified as I was.
Dr. Camilla is not only my doctor, my friend and my idol but she truly
is a blessing.
