Drs. Steven and Camilla Franson
Beverly, Massachusetts
I began playing the greatest game ever invented, golf, in August
1997. I t quickly became my passion, after family and my
mortgage business. I played often and began improving. With the improvement
came the cost of back pain. I though it was just a strained
muscle, and as it became worse, I began taking Advil or Motrin to
ease the pain. It was not long before I began taking four pills to
begin the round, four at the turn (middle), and four at the end.
The
pain got so intense, I could not put on my socks. Bending over was
not possible. I could not get down the stairs to leave for a golf
tournament in Myrtle Beach in August 2000. I told my doctor who told
me not to play for awhile. Good for him, as I could not play anyway.
A few months later, the pain was easingand I tried playing again.
Of course, the pain returned.
In January2001, my doctor ordered
an MRI which showed I had a bulging disc. My choices were to give
up golf, have surgery, or deal with the pain. My first duty was to
get physical therapy. The PT worked somewhat and I was able to play
Pebble Beach in April, but the pain returned when the golf season
started and I was limited to how often I could lpay. I walked off
one course due to severe pain. Although I played in pain with far
too many pills, and my game was improving despite my less-than-full
golf swing, I knew my days were numbered if I did not do something.
Though my family suffered the loss
of our adopted greyhound, Pudding, who died of cancer of
the spine and tumors in her uterus, it was during her last
days when we met Dr. Stephen Franson who had recommended
a veterinarian who was skilled in chiropractic (yes, dogs and other
animals can benefit as well as humans). I told Dr. Franson that I
had a bulging disc and that it was not something he could overcome
with his skill and his eyes lit up. He stated that "that is what I
do." I signed up for an evaluation, got my first adjustment, noticed
immediate improvement, and after three visits per week for
two weeks, I was virtually pain free. My golf swing was back
and there was no pain.
I have played almost weekly since April and I have yet
to take a single pill for pain. Yes, I feel some pain after playing,
but it is not so uncomfortable that I reach for the Motrin
or Advil. The pain was so intense that I still occasionally anticipate
pain while swinging a club. Yet, there is no pain. I am hitting the
ball further than ever and now must adjust my short game swing. In
addition, I am now able to assist my wife with making the bed in the
morning, putting groceries into and removing them from the car, and
withother household chores.
I do not hesitate to tell everyone I meet
that Dr. Franson was the answer to my back problem. Within days of
my treatments, my wife, who suffers from migraines and has had a sore
back for decades, signed up. Our daughter suffered from weekly migraines
and her back was sore from gymnastics and track. She was excited when
I told her she had an appointment to get checked. Not only has her
back improved, she has not had a migraine since she began chiropractic.
My entire
family is benefiting form chiropractic. It may not be for everyone,
but what does one have to lose to try?
