At nineteen years old I had a terrible moped accident that left
me with nerve damage in my lower back and leg. In the years following
the accident, I suffered pain, sensory loss, paralysis, horrible
menstrual problems, endometriosis, and inability to successfully carry
a child. I and my husband suffered five miscarriages after the accident.
The medical doctors told me that the same nerves that supplied my damaged
leg also supplied my uterus. Because of poor nerve supply,
they said my uterus was not healthy enough to support a fetus; therefore,
I should and could not conceive and carry a child.
Fortunately I was referred
to have my spine checked by the chiropractors at Franson Family Chiropractic.
Within a year of beginning care the feeling came back into my leg, and
I was pregnant with what became my first child. Nothing could describe
the joy that I felt when I was able to walk into the very busy office and
announce "Doc, you
got me pregnant!" Of course, the doctors were embarrassed. "I've been
waiting a year to say that to you," I said.
The doctors checked me
very closely over the next months, especially through the third
trimester. I knew that the mechanics of my pelvis were critical for
a healthy delivery, but I learned that far more important is a healthy
nerve supply to the uterus and to the baby.
A very healthy baby boy
was delivered in 17 minutes to a very, very happy mom and dad last
week. We have photos of him getting his first spine and nerve system
