Chiropractors / spinal specialists australia
Dr.
Hakan Bilal of St Albans in the state Victoria,
Australia
I was first introduced to chiropractic about 23 years ago
when I became friends with someone studying to become a chiropractor.
For years I suggested to others with problems that they go
and see a chiropractor, but it was not until 17 years later
that I actually began going to one myself.
When I was pregnant
with my daughter, I began to get a pain in my hip, especially
at night. I would wake up during the night and the only way
I could get comfortable was to sleep on the couch with my leg
at right angles on the coffee table. I thought that it was
just everything aching and me feeling uncomfortable due to
being pregnant and that it would all go away after I had my
baby.
Well it didn't. It got better for a while but it came
back. I went to my doctor, had the painful hip x-rayed and
was told that there was nothing wrong. It was suggested that
I try acupuncture, but from what I had learnt all those years
ago from my friend I wasn't satisfied. I knew something was
wrong, my hip just didn't feel right. I needed a chiropractor.
I
began to ask those friends whom I suggested chiropractic to
for anyone that they could recommend but with a small child
and a husband who works odd hours I never got a chance to go.
Finally, one day a chiropractor came to me, well sort of, they
came to my shopping centre to do spinal screenings. I couldn't
book in fast enough.
New x-rays did show something wrong with
my hip but not the one with the pain. The opposite side was
stuck and putting pressure on the side that I felt the pain
in. X-rays also revealed a very large curve in the lower spine
so large that when I lay on the floor you could put your whole
arm up to the elbow under my back and not touch it. I also
had no neck curve among other things. So that day I finally
became a chiropractic patient myself and later my young daughter
began getting adjusted too.
On the 23 rd July this year (2006)
I celebrate my 7 th year as a chiropractic patient. It's a
celebration not only of being rid of that pain in the hip and
the correction of the other problems that I had but of better
health, more energy and vitality, of feeling more alive not
only for myself but for my now 12 year old daughter as well.
It has also given me freedom from the medication I took for
high blood pressure and heartburn.
Our chiropractor is now our
main healthcare provider and will continue to be in the future
because I want to keep feeling great every day of my life.
I want to be like Mick Jagger, still be able to strut my stuff
and kick a soccer ball with my future grand children at age
60 and older; to not lose mobility, not be that hunched over
shuffling person with the walking frame that we all see at
our local shopping centre, because that's where I'd be heading
If I hadn't become a chiropractic patient for life.
