Dr. Harri Maki-Pesola Pori, Finland
I was forced to see a chiropractor by my friend who got
sick and tired of hearing me complain. Actually she booked
the appointment and walked me in and waited me getting examined.
My problem was a chronic upper back pain, right shoulder
pain and numbness of the right hand. In addition I was on
blood pressure and cholesterol medication. The problems had
started some two years earlier when I fell while skiing.
I then hurt my knee and therefore I had to stay in a hospital
for days after surgery. The knee always felt fine but my
back started to hurt while in bed and especially when I had
to use crutches to move about for nearly eight weeks.
I'm
not sure if something happened to my back while falling but
surely something wasn't right. When I told this to my doctor,
he gave me some pain medication and told me it will resolve
once I could get rid of the crutches. But it didn't. It actually
started to get gradually worse and I got regularly stronger
medicine. I also had some physical therapy but that didn't
help at all. I don't know why my blood pressure went up but
as Dr Harri explained I had been under enormous stress due
to chronic pain and that was enough to raise it.
The chiropractor
found several misalignments in my spine and resultant injured
muscles. This was clear when I saw the pictures of my posture.
Also the muscles were very tender upon pressure and squeezing.
After my first adjustment, which
definitely wasn't very pleasant one, I felt like there was
a very warm feeling in my back. It first hurt but after just
few seconds I was able to move freely. Little by little I
started to feel better altogether and since that first adjustment,
every adjustment has been a very pleasant one. Now after
three months of care my back is free of pain, my shoulder
feels fine and my hand feels absolutely normal. My whole
body seems to be better and I'm sure I move better. Due to
chiropractic I feel totally healthy.
