Dr. Harri Maki-Pesola Pori, Finland
I'm a 32 year old instructor/therapist for disabled.
I first saw my chiropractor because my medical doctor told
me to. I had suffered from nasty musculoskeletal pains, ear
infection and terrible dizziness for some time. The doctor
had previously referred me to massage therapist, ultrasound
therapy and what ever she happened to find working in the
same medical unit.
In 2001, I wasn't able to work for almost
a year, because I was so often at home sick from back pain.
My work involved lots of lifting and helping other people
and due to dizziness I could not turn my head. The medication
actually started to make me worse and when I developed a
stomach ulcer, I was ready to follow my doctor's instruction
and "take a risk
to see a chiropractor".
In just two weeks I noticed how the
life started to flow thru my body again and in few more weeks
I was back doing my old hobby, judo. I was able to go back
to work and was feeling near normal. That's when my doctor
told me I should not take anymore "risks and that I should cancel the rest
of my chiropractic appointments". She told me I should now
see a massage therapist regularly. As an obedient patient,
and because I was feeling so much better, I did so. What
a mistake!
This went on for nearly a year, during which, my
condition gradually sneaked back. I couldn't notice it myself,
until one morning I wasn't able to get up from bed. The dizziness
was back and my husband had to carry me back to the chiropractor's
office. I decided once again to follow my chiropractor's
recommendations for good and haven't looked back.
I've now
been a chiropractic patient for over four years and so many
things have changed since that; I no longer suffer from pain
(unless I hurt myself in judo or doing gardening), chronic
ear infections, and my stomach is just fine because haven't
taken any medication for years. I also suffered from hereditary
blood clotting disorder, for which I have taken regular shots
to keep my blood thin. I was told I will need these shots
for the rest of my life with increasing dosage. funnily enough
I haven't had a shot since spring 2004. When I told to my
doctor this was due to chiropractic, she said it is impossible,
yet the only difference in my life is just that, chiropractic.
My
husband saw me suffer but to have his spine checked was a
task. After two health classes, he let go of being stubborn
and was ready to give it a go. He has now been a chiropractic
patient for over two years and no longer suffers from migraine,
low back pain or hip pain. Because the changes happened in
our lives, we decided to bring up our daughter following
our chiropractor's recommendations. She has been regularly
adjusted since she was five days old and has never needed
a vaccination, antibiotic, nor any other medication since
leaving the hospital three days after she was born.
The most
wonderful thing I could think as a mother is to bring up
a healthy child. I don't think this is possible without healthy
spine, diet and positive mental attitude. These are the things
I see happening in peoples (like ourselves) lives in the
chiropractors waiting room.
