Dr. Harri Maki-Pesola Pori, Finland
The difference between fall of 2004 and spring 2006
is like a day and night. There are many days of life in between
the times, but the sparkle I can write about is the regular
visit to my chiropractor's office.
In the fall of 2004 I was
in desperation: headache, heart arrhythmias, burning pain
in my upper back and the inability to get out of bed in the
mornings due to low back pain made my life miserable. On
the top I had the most stressful time in the work and when
I got home from work I just wanted to spend time alone, crying
despite my family was trying to do everything to help. Resultant
insomnia and commuting a long distance to work and bad working
ergonomics didn't help much.
One morning I saw an ad in the
newspaper about similar symptoms to mine. All these people
testified like some sort of a miracle had happened to them.
At first I thought this was too good to be true but if the
people were real, what did I have to lose. So I thought this
was my last resort to get any help. If it didn't help, well
I was just meant to stay sick! That's when I called my Dr
Harri for the first time.
I learned on my first visit how
the posture is the window to my spine. and
that my posture was a wreck; my shoulders were nearly two
inches unlevelled, and my upper body was leaning to right.
I was crooked! It made me cry when I saw this and when someone
told me that my physical condition was not far from being
nil. On the way home I decided that if I was accepted as
a patient I would do anything, at any cost, regardless how
long it took, to get better.
I've been now regularly adjusted
since fall of 2004. Because of efficient system in the office,
I can take a short brake during my lunch hour at work, which
helps me to get some distance from stressful job. From the
beginning I have followed my home care program. that means
stretching my neck and doing few posture exercises as well
as constantly making sure I don't slouch at my own office
or in the car. The friendly and happy atmosphere has made
it easy to come to the office every time, week after week.
When
we actually start feeling better, we tend to forget what
it was like earlier. Few months ago I noticed, that I haven't
felt any pains for I don't know how long. I can sleep and
I feel like there's nothing wrong with me. I'm devoted to
keep coming in although I feel fine, because isn't that the
point. optimal health and wellbeing for me and my
family. I'm also trying to convince everyone to get check-up
at least once to make sure their spines are working right.
