finland chiropractic

Dr. Harri Maki-Pesola Pori, Finland

I'm a 56 year old woman and a chronic pain patient. Because of pain I've have gone thru several surgeries. my low back disc was operated once I had a prolapsed disc, my left shoulder has been surgically fixed after a lifting injury at work and my right wrist cut open to relieve pressure in the nerves going to my hand causing numbness and inability to knit. I've always done hard manual labour and therefore I have tried to take care of my body by doing regular exercises to keep my body mobile, eating healthy and stretching. For some reason that was not enough and little by little health problems started to pile up one after another until I was not able to work anymore. Maybe I was just prone to injury.

As a nurse in the retirement home you must be able to lift heavy loads. Because of my age I was not given a chance to get an easier job but instead told I was fired to be unemployed until my own retirement. For an active person that just seemed too far away to just wait and fade away. The answer seemed to be more operations, but because I had already had my share I refused of more surgeries and became depressed.

I don't know how I heard about the family chiropractic first but by the grace of God I found myself sitting in a chiropractors evening school. This was somewhat odd, because my previous experience with chiropractors were just some twisting done in my lower back. But that half an hour appeared to be very important turning point in my life. After the class, this new chiropractor, Dr Harri offered to examine my spine and nervous system for no charge. I was very eager to see if he could help me to get my job back get me back to health. The next day I saw just how much off I was. It was no surprise but what I didn't understand was the relationship between my spine, nervous system and my health problems.

I'm now a veteran in this office and soon will I start my fourth year as a patient. I don't think my back will ever be 100% but chiropractic has helped me to get back in a working condition. Year ago I started a new job. This requires even more lifting than previously, which of course was at first a bit scary. However, I have been able to work and do my duties without pain or a day of sick leave. I have also started to knit again which was totally out of a question three years ago. My two daughters are now under regular care as well and so will my younger daughter child be. once he/she will be born.
