Dr. Bruce and Chiropractic USA Staff,
Happy New Year! It's going
to be a great, pain-free year thanks to you and I wanted
to share my written testimony with you and your patients.
I became very
concerned about my health back in February of 2003 when I
started waking up in the mornings with pains in my upper back, my right
hand, and the arches of my feet. To give you a sense of the magnitude
of the pain, I basically felt like someone had taken a baseball bat and
hit the upper left portion of my back with all their might. In the mornings
and late evenings I couldn't grasp anything with my right hand without
sharp pains shooting through my palms. I couldn't grab the doorknob,
nor my toothbrush, nor answer the phone. Have you ever stepped on a Lego
piece? Do you remember that pain in your arch? Try super-gluing them
to both arches and walking around in the morning. OUCH!
Considering that
I'm relatively young (32) and am an officer in the United States Navy,
I became very worried that my declining health would force me out of
the service. However, since I'm a "typical male",
I didn't bother seeking medical assistance s-ince I thought
I could live with the pain until someday it magically went
away!
Well, that "magical day" never happened and last August
I went to my regular doctor who gave me pain-killers for
my back, diagnosed me with carpal-tunnel syndrome for my hand, and referred
me to the orthopedic department to get fitted for shoe inserts.
He also explained that if the brace for my hand/wrist didn't help out,
I'd have to undergo surgery to repair the damage.
Since I wasn't a big
fan of the drugs nor was I fond of the brace (it's hard to
hit a golf ball with that thing on!) I decided there had
to be another way. I remembered that my friend Sila Luaifoa
had been in massive pain after being in a horrible car accident and that
he eventually saw a chiropractor that reduced his pain almost completely.
Therefore, I gave him a call and was referred to your office.
I initially
was concerned about the fact that everyone in your office
was talking about my spine but no one seemed to care about my back, my
hands, and my feet! I was starting to wonder if I made a mistake by coming
into your office for adjustments!
Thankfully, I received my first adjustment
on my birthday, September 11 th , and when you adjusted my neck and said, "The Power's On!" boy,
you weren't kidding! That was the start of my three-times-per-week
adjustments.
Approximately six weeks later, I woke up after
a night's sleep and realized I wasn't in any pain! I got
out of bed and walk to the bathroom with no pain in my feet! I picked-up
the toothbrush without having to switch to my left hand! (Have you ever
tried brushing your teeth with your other hand? (Frustrating!) I didn't
have a massive knot in my upper back anymore!
I actually stopped brushing
my teeth and looked in the mirror and wondered, "How
long have I been pain-free?" It wasn't more than a couple of days,
I'm sure, but I was so stoked!!! It was amazing to me that
even though you never once touched my hands nor my feet,
the adjustments to my spine helped to alleviate the pain
in those areas.
After seeing the 90-day x-rays, I began to "believe" in chiropractic
care. Even though the pain was gone, there were still those lingering
doubts that maybe it was just coincidental that my hands and feet felt
better. But the x-rays showed the curvature in my neck was improving,
and the tilt and rotation of my pelvic bone was returning back to its
normal position. I must apologize for any lack of faith, but "seeing
is believing" when it comes to those x-rays!
For those of us in the
military, the bill you send us is a hard pill to swallow
since our military medical care is free. But all I can say is that unfortunately
at this time the military doesn't offer chiropractic care, and the WORTH
of being pain-free is far more than the COST of the adjustments. I have
recommended you to everybody I know who complains about aches and pains.
Thank
you for all your support and care!
