Drs. Bruce Wong and Dr. Katherine Higgins-Katoa, Honolulu, Hawaii
Dear Friend,
I'm sharing my experiences with you because my life
has drastically changed since getting chiropractic care. About
three years ago, I came to see Dr. Wong. At that time, I was a wreck.
I had daily headaches, and my lower back and hip always seemed to hurt.
Coincidentally,
my Ob-gyn told me that I probably would have a difficult time
getting pregnant because I was experiencing irregular cycles
duet to a hormonal imbalance. He told me if this imbalance could
not be corrected with medication, I might have to have a hysterectomy.
I was crushed. Upon receiving adjustments from Dr. Wong. I immediately
felt better. The headaches disappeared after the first week
of treatment. And little did I know, was pregnant a few weeks later.
The
sad thing was that I did not fully realize the blessings I was
receiving until the fateful day, in August 2003. I was 41 years
old with no medical conditions and in generally good health
(so I thought). But, I was under a tremendous amount of stress
from work. The morning of the third day of school. I woke up and
was getting ready as usual. I was really tired and wasn't sleeping
well for several days. I shrugged It off as the beginning of the school
year exhaustion. I was wrong. The next few minutes I began feeling pressure
in my chest and it was spreading across it with the pressure
intensifying. I was feeling dizzy and nauseated. I called my husband
and said, "I think I'm
having a heart attack." I called 911.
When the ambulance came and
my vitals were taken, my blood pressure was really high. I
was rushed to the emergency room where even the doctors didn't believe
it was a heart attack because I was relatively young, a non-smoker and
no prior medical history of heart disease. But, I was overweight, inactive,
and STRESSED. When the lab results came back, it was confirmed that
I indeed had a mild heart attack and my glucose level was extremely
high.
My entire life flashed before my eyes and for the first time,
I thought I was going to die. I was hospitalized for four days and put
on all kinds of medication. I had a procedure to assess my
arteries for blockage. No blockage was found and my cholesterol level
was low. What could have caused the heart attack?
I didn't realize what
was happening to me until God, slapped me in the head and gave
me a wake up call. My life was spinning out of control and I didn't
know it. I literally had to stop all the craziness and rest my body.
During my month long recuperation I came in more frequently for adjustments
and met with Dr. Wong who recommended healthy lifestyle changes.
Prior to the heart attack, I wasn't ready to commit to a change in lifestyle.
However, the fear of dying gave me a rude reality jolt.
Throughout
this emotional time and even now Dr. Wong is there for me.
He takes an interest in my well being and encourages me to
try and do simple changes that will positively affect my health
(exercising, eating healthy food, stress reducing techniques, and wonderful
feeling adjustments). Each day, I take one step at a time and follow
through with my new life changes. Every day is not perfect. Some days
I back slide but the one thing that I know I am committed to,
is getting adjusted weekly.
My body is in recovery from trauma
and I cannot push and abuse it like I have in the past. Adjustments
have helped my body recover from illnesses quickly and give
me energy. I feel good physically, and it affects my emotional health.
I feel more alert content, and happy.
Chiropractic care is helping me
prevent sickness and has helped to give me a new sense of life
- the quality of the kind of life I want -- happy, content, and pain
free.
Sincerely,
Saundra
