Karina's story.

Taking my daughter to the chiropractor was my last hope. I have taken her to doctors and hospitals on and off the last eleven years. Karina was born with Hypermobility Joint Syndrome. This was not diagnosed until she was nine years old. Karina woke up every night with pains in her neck and legs and sometimes in her hands and arms also depending what activity she had been doing during the day.

I was told by the doctors at Princess Margaret Hospital two years ago that although some children outgrow this problem, Karina's case was bad and that she would have to deal with these pains for the rest of her life. They gave me some advice such as swimming and walking as these would not put strain on her joints. The only medication prescribed to Karina was panamax which she has been taking or the last eleven years. Karina started taking panadol from an early age and then when she was nine the dose was increased.

Karina's joints are too loose and do not support her muscles which cause a lot of muscle strain. Before Karina was diagnosed we spent a lot of money and time on x-rays and blood tests and seven pediatricians. After one week of chiropractic care Karina no longer has a dose of panamax before sleeping every night and does not wake up with a headache every morning. She still takes medication on a few occasions but I am glad to say she is no longer dependant. Karina has also spent a lot of time at physical and occupational therapy.

I give permission for this story to be used for publicity about chiropractic care.
