Diane
My name is Diane. When I was born they found out that I
had scoliosis. By the age of four I saw an orthopedic twice
a year, to check up on my scoliosis. They found that I had
3 curves in my spine. I continued to see the orthopedic regularly
and the 3 curves seemed like they were pretty much under
control, and there was not much of a change. When I turned
12 years old they saw that the curves were getting slightly
worse due to the growth spurt I had. So the doctor wanted
to keep close eye on them. At the time my first curve was
about 15 degrees, my second around 10 degrees, and my third
around 10 degrees also. By the next visit all my curves went
up around 10 degrees from what they were.
The doctor was
getting nervous and decided to put me on the Milwaukee Brace
that extended from the bottom of my chin to my pelvic bone.
I would have to wear it everyday for 23 hours, just take
it off to take a shower. I wore the brace religiously for
three years and every time I went back to the orthopedic,
my curves were still getting worse. Then the day finally
came for one of my regular visits and the minute the doctor
opened the door he looked at me and said “it’s
not good”. The tears came running down my face, because
I knew what that meant. I was going to have a spinal fusion,
after 3 horrible years of wearing the brace. So that August
the big day was here, and I just wanted it to be over and
done with. I would no longer have scoliosis…so I thought.
About
2 years later both my parents started to go to F.C.C., they
told me that I shouldn’t go because they didn’t
think that it would help me anyway. One day I just happened
to go with my parents and this very friendly woman greeted
me and gave me a whole tour of the office. She asked me if
I ever had my spine checked for subluxation. I said I didn’t
and told her my story. She convinced me to get checked, and
I did.
When Dr. Mark showed me my x-rays I was shocked, my
neck was going in the opposite direction and my spine still
was severely curved. So I started adjustments immediately.
I have to say from the very first to now I have little to
no pain. I have so much more energy. In the past four months
my neck has made more progress then when I wore the brace
for three years. I would like to thank not only Dr. Mark,
but also the whole staff from F.C.C. for making that progress
possible!!
Teams F.C.C. is the place to be!!!
