Melody (Dakota’s Mother)
Dakota was diagnosed with
aplastic anemia in May 2003. With the condition, her immune
system is attacking her bone marrow. This means she does
not have enough red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets.
The biggest danger to her is that, if she is injured, she
could bleed like a hemophiliac. Her platelet counts horned
around 25-30,000 for a year and a half (normal counts run
from 100,000-150,000). After just 8 weeks of chiropractic
care, her platelet counts have started to steadily rise.
The rise has been slow (she is at 40,000 now) but hopefully
we’ll keep improving. Oh and treatment
for her condition, as prescribed by the doctors at Hasbro
Children’s Hospital, would be chemotherapy, radiation,
and a bone marrow transplant.

This is definitely better than
having to consider the dangers of a bone marrow transplant
and putting toxic, cancer causing materials in her 5-year-old
body.
