Chiropractors / spinal specialists australia

Dr April Traynor, Health in Hands Chiropractic, Wollongong, NSW, Australia

My name is Alison. I am 62 years young, lately. I write this for those of you who feel unsure as to whether chiropractic care will be of benefit, or who, in their heads, believe their case to be hopeless.

This is my story... When I was 10 years old I had an accident. I was flung from a piece of play ground equipment and I landed heavily on my back on a concrete slab. I remember being in pain at the time but was not examined by a doctorbecause"children quickly recover". Since then I have experienced back pain and discomfort daily. In 1989, following an injury at work, an x-ray revealed considerable spinal degeneration, being worse in the neck.

I was referred to an orthopedic surgeon, who told me that eventually the vertebrae in my neck would fuse together "and you'll just have a stiff neck". He made no mention of the damage that would occur from the blocking of the nerve paths, and the destruction and disruption of function to body organs which would be the end result of "natural fusion". I was given to understand that I have an incurable condition which will progress and I was advised to "do what you can, for as long as you are able".

Since then I have had increasing pain, especially in my neck and lower back. I could not stand or walk for long and other conditions began to develop which I did not associate with my spine, joint pains, digestive problems, rheumatoid arthritis and most recently sciatica which became so painful that my GP prescribed anti-inflammatory drugs and told me that I would be on them for the rest of my life!

So it was fortunate that about the same time I read an article from "Health in Hands" in the local paper. I decided to give Chiropractic treatment a try in the hope of gaining relief from the sciatica. I had no thought about gaining any benefit to my spinal condition, as I had been told by 2 GPs and the surgeon that it could only get worse. So after the initial assessment done by Brad and April at Health in Hands and it came the day to hear the results. I wasn't surprised when Grant told me that I only had 6 Arc of Life remaining and various subluxations which, when I looked the spinal chart, were the cause of my deteriorating health.
